Public satellite imagery cut into map tiles and served to a browser
Why MoogleGaps

Everything the big providers make difficult, by default.

Priced like infra

$0.0001 per 1,000 tile requests, $0.02 per GB. We charge what it costs to serve maps, plus not much. No map-load SKUs, no seats, no sales calls.

Offline is the default

Ship fixed-area tile packs inside your app, self-host the whole world, or cache API responses forever. Your app should show the map whether or not the network cooperates.

Licensing you can read

Cache it, store it, bundle it, redistribute it, show it on any map you like. No "must be shown on our map" clauses and no take-backs — our terms just follow the open licenses of the data itself. Attribution is handled for you: we send the right credits with every response and MapLibre and Leaflet display them automatically.

Bring your own infra

Pay for maps the way you pay for storage.

Pick the deployment model that matches your coverage needs — and move between them whenever you like. Everything runs through one API token, and billing follows the token.

  • Fixed areas — only need certain metros? Pay once for the tile packs and embed them directly in your app.
  • Whole-hog — host a complete copy of the world tiles on your own cloud storage and use MoogleGaps to read it.
  • Incremental — host the areas you use most, pull the rest on demand from our API.
  • Pure API — start with an empty cache, fetch tiles as needed, and keep them however long you want.

Pricing

The whole price list fits right here.

No tiers, no calculators that need their own documentation. See how this compares with Google Maps and Mapbox for real workloads on the pricing page.

Map tiles (raster or vector) $0.0001 per 1,000 GET/HEAD requests
Tile bandwidth $0.02 per GB downloaded
Geocoding / reverse geocoding $2/month includes 200,000 requests then $0.20 per 1,000 requests
How we do it

Simple infrastructure, honestly metered.

There's no secret. Keeping maps cheap means keeping the machinery boring:

  • We cut raster map tiles directly from publicly available satellite imagery and host them on Backblaze.
  • We regularly refresh our vector tiles and geocoding databases from OpenStreetMap and Nominatim.
  • A Cloudflare Worker meters API usage per token — that's the entire billing stack.
